CAN YOU HELP US TO TURN OUR PLANS INTO REALITY AND PROVIDE IRTHLINGBOROUGH WITH A ‘FOCAL POINT’ FOR ITS MANY COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES?

We need your help in raising the balance of some £90,000 to enable the project to proceed.  We shall continue to make applications for grants from charitable organisations and our fund-raising activities will continue but we also need your support, however great or small.

Contributions, payable to ‘Irthlingborough Methodist Church’ may be sent to the Church Treasurer:

Mrs. Doreen Ingram

20 Knightlands Road,

Irthlingborough, NN9 5SU

Gift Aid Forms are available on request. Thank you in advance for any help you are able to offer.

UP-DATE ON OUR MAJOR REDEVELOPMENT SCHEME TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE OF IRTHLINGBOROUGH

·        In May 2006 Irthlingborough Methodist Church carried out a community audit, delivering leaflets to almost 4,000 homes in Irthlingborough.  The community audit showed that the people of Irthlingborough want:

§        A Drop-in Centre

§        Healthy Living activities

§        Computer/Internet training

§        Education and skills training

§        Family activities and advice and support

·        Taking account of the audit results and the needs of our congregation, we have since developed a design brief for the redevelopment of our 1897 church building, an Architect has been appointed and initial plans and cost estimates have been drawn up.

·        A business plan has been produced for the project.

Our Mission:

We want to provide a centre for the community where everyone - young and old - can come, not only for Christian worship, but also to enjoy meeting others informally and joining in a whole range of activities and courses tailor-made for them.  Our premises (situated just off the High Street) are ideally placed to provide this ‘centre for the community’.

Our halls (at the rear of the church) cannot meet all the needs of the congregation and community.  We therefore need to modernise and alter our church building itself to make it more flexible and user-friendly.  A much-needed completely new heating system will be installed as part of the project.

The Cost:

Fund-raising has continued steadily and grants and other sources of income have been identified but we still need to raise approximately £90,000 - of the estimated £390,000 cost - to bring our plans to completion.

Sponsor a chair for our newly refurbished worship hall

We are aiming to purchase in the region of 110 new chairs for our worship hall.  You can purchase one for the price of £50 and dedicate it to the memory of a loved one.
